This has been an amazing, crazy, busy, travely (I promise that’s a word…) summer for Viv and me! We love to travel, and travel we did! Now that we’re home for the summer, it is so much fun to look back on where we have been and what we’ve done, here is a quick summary:
Total Miles Driven: 4,799
Total Miles Flown: 4,791
Total Miles: 9,590
{Trip 1} 2,757 Miles: The One Year Anniversary
Each year, Viv and I plan to alternate between planning a trip and giving a significant gift to each other. This year it was my turn to plan the trip, and her turn to give a gift, and I think we both did a great job! Viv’s gift to me was tickets for the two of us for theAdvance09 conference, so I planned a mini-vacation on the East Coast. The conference was in Durham, NC, - after which we spent a night in Richmond, VA and an took an afternoon Segway tour of Washington, DC!
{Trip 2} 2,920 Miles: California Dreaming
Viv’s parents helped us celebrate Viv’s new Art Teaching job by letting us use their miles to visit her brother and sister-in-law in California! Most of our time was spent in North Hollywood, but the in-laws wound up taking us on a day trip to the San Diego Zoo! It was a great trip, full of food and laughter (two of our favorite things)!
{Trip 3} 396 Miles: Wyld at Life
We had a great time at Carolina Creek with our WyldLife kids and leaders! It was nice to have a shorter trip for once, and thankfully the weather was cooler than normal for Texas in late July.
{Trip 4} 1,646 Miles: Corn, Soy and the Guthries
One of the highlights of our trip was our time with my brother Jay and the Guthries at East Iowa Bible Camp. I was able to speak 5 times to a group of 7th and 8th graders (click on the Talks section to listen), and we all had a great time getting to know the kids!
{Trip 5} 1,871 Miles: Rocky Mountain High
My grandfather passed away after being sick for years, so we met the rest of my family in Denver for the memorial service. The service and family time was great, and we even got to spend an evening with our great friends Chad and Mary!!! We’re back now, and ready to lay low for a while.
